Rooftop solar makes more electricity, but it's a building job. A plug-in kit is something you set up yourself.

Estimate what it could generate

Pick a kit and who's home in the day. Your figure and every assumption sit side by side.

Range, 40–58% used
£75–£105
Unit rate
26.32p per kWh

An estimate, not a promise. It assumes a south-facing, unshaded spot at 30°, North West England, about 700 kWh a year from an 800W kit (Energy Saving Trust), 40–58% of it used at home, and the Ofgem price cap unit rate of 26.32p per kWh (1 Oct to 31 Dec 2026). Electricity you send to the grid isn't paid for. Your result will vary with location, shade and when you use electricity.

Delivery across England, Wales and Scotland

We deliver kits to your door anywhere in England, Scotland and Wales.

Plug-in solar isn't permitted in Northern Ireland, so we can't deliver kits there, or to the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands. Our plug-in solar rules explain why, with sources.

How delivery works

Questions before you order

Do I need an electrician?

Plug-in kits are plug-and-play for homes with modern RCD protection. If you have an older fuse box, or you're not sure, have an electrician check it first. The maker's datasheets also say the kits are designed for a suitable outdoor socket fitted and certified by a qualified electrician, so if there isn't one near your spot, an electrician can fit one.

Can I have more than one kit?

No. The grid connection rules allow one plug-in solar kit per household, so we sell one kit per household and our checkout takes one kit per order.

What happens to power I don't use?

Your home uses the kit's electricity first, as it's made. Anything your home doesn't need at that moment goes to the grid, and it isn't paid for: self-installed plug-in kits generally don't qualify for export payments. That's why our savings estimate only counts electricity used in your home.

When will my kit arrive?

Each kit shows its dispatch date once it's on sale or on pre-order, and we'll confirm delivery times when ordering opens. If a kit isn't on sale yet, join the kit list on its page and we'll email you when you can order.
